Vishnu Sharma from Bolangir district of Odisha says couple of months back I has sent an interview with few laborers who had told that they had not got their NREGA wages from 2 years. After the interview went out on Swara I got a call from Panchayat Secretary of Odisha who had promised to solve the problem. Indeed there was an inquiry but the laborers still have not any wages. The officials instead asked the laborers to take Rs 200 and keep their mouth shut. Mr Sharma is reading out the messages from some laborers as there is no phone connectivity in those villages. My name is Bhagirathi. I live in Abhanpur near Raipur in Chhattisgarh. We asked for work under NREGA on 3rd March but no work was given though government says they will give compensation if they can not give work in 2 weeks. I went to many officials including the collector and local MLA who came to our village during Gram Suraj Abhiyan and they promised to look at my demand for compensation. Chhotelal Tirkey from Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh is talking to two laborers from Dumadadh village in Pratapur block who tells him that they worked under NREGA a year back but they have not got their wages. They say they also went to collector and he assured immediate payment but one week has passed since then too. Reena Ramteke from Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh is talking to Kham Singh a laborer who tells her that they worked uner NREGA in the month of February but have not got any wages. They first wrote to forest department where they had worked. Prakash Gupta from Surguja in Chhattisgarh is telling us that he filed a Right to Infrmation application last year to find out about irregularity in NREGA. He was asked to deposit Rs 25,000 to get the information. He went on first appeal and the officer decided in the month of February this year that he should be given all the information without any charge. But he is yet to get any information.
