7th day of Jan Chetna Yatra in Chhattisgarh- "Present a United Front"

Alok Shukla says that the message about saving of Jan Jangal Jameen has gone down to people in meetings, personal contact. Thousands of people participated in the yatra and the time they spent talking to each other, has shown that the concerns we are raising are close to their hearts.
He would like people to realise that the resources in Chhattisgarh should be used in a balanced and considered manner. The state is not doing this. The attack on livelihoods, migration of people, is growing, and people need to come together and resist the pressure in an empowered way.
Prakash Gupta brings us this interview from Sarguja.

We lived here for so long, why are we being displaced now?

Asks Vijay Bhai from a village on the way of the Jan Chetna Yatra. He explains the process which will follow- first some incentives will be offered to people who own the land where factories and mines are being planned. Once the bait is swallowed by the greedy, the others will follow suit- if only to match up with the people who now have some compensation.
This is the way development has happened, he says. He draws attention to the future problems like the ones all Hindi speaking people are facing in other parts of the country from where they are being driven out, identified as outsiders whether they are from Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh or MP.
Prakash Gupta brings us this interview.
