Vishnu Sharma from Bolangir district of Odisha says couple of months back I has sent an interview with few laborers who had told that they had not got their NREGA wages from 2 years. After the interview went out on Swara I got a call from Panchayat Secretary of Odisha who had promised to solve the problem. Indeed there was an inquiry but the laborers still have not any wages. The officials instead asked the laborers to take Rs 200 and keep their mouth shut. Mr Sharma is reading out the messages from some laborers as there is no phone connectivity in those villages. More than 300 people from a rally organized by Bundelkhand Majdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan, Damoh MP to submit a memorandum demanding review of land claims rejected by the government.Under the Forest Right act 2006, about 10000 claims were made but more than 4000 were rejected. Less than 600 claims were actually awarded. With thousands in distress, people demand a government order to start a campaign of re submitting the claims and visiting the site for certifying the claims, accepting the evidence of the senior residents and the gram sabha as the final authority. Sumerlal Sharma from Badmer in Rajasthan says last month some upper caste people have badly beaten a dalit but the police is not registering a case. The case was filed with help from SP but no action has been taken yet. The dalit person does not have money for treatment and he is badly suffering.
