Chandra Pratap Singh from Semaria in Bilaspur district in Chhattisgarh is giving details of NREGA work where people have not worked but they have been shonw as being paid in the muster roll. Gend Lal Sayyam is telling us about their problems around Revenue land and not forest Land. The villagers have applied for lands many time but no one is paying attention. They are being sent from pillar to post.The MNREGA scheme is not being run well. The payment was made not in 15 days as prescribed, sometimes for 4 months. First we were told that the rate would be 120 rupees per day, but the payment was made at the rate of 65 rupees per day. With the result, no one wants to do Panchayat work. Prakash Gupta is visiting village Kanaknagar in Pratappur block of Surajpur district in Chhattisgarh today. While talking to the Sarpanch he finds out that people worked under NREGA five months back in February 2012 but are yet to paid. The sarpanch tells him that more than Rs 7 lakh wages are due and the officials tell him that the funds have not arrived. Pitbasu Bhoi from Surguja in Chhattisgarh says I worked for NREGA for 100 days in 2010 and was not paid and had to give a heavy price ( His son died in hospital while he was still running around to get his NREGA wages). Then he got the wages after it was raised in Swara and then in many newspapers but he is still waiting for compensation for late payment.
