Aparna Marandi from Giridih district of Jharkhand says in her village last year under NREGA work had started for making two ponds but after a year both remain incomplete and are not giving any help to any one. She says this is another example of faulty development projects. In future there should be rigorous checks in development works and the planning should be such that it helps maximum people. Naresh Bunkar from Adivasi Jan Van adhikar Manch in Chhattisgarh is telling us about a village in Kawardha district where some officials have sent the report of NREGA social audit without even consulting the village elected headman. He says it is a tribal village and Sarpanch is a Baiga adivasi. Majority of villagers are also Baiga adivasi but the social audit was completed in the presence of deputy head, some officials and few villagers. Rest were not made aware of it.
