I had reported it on Swara and some other forums requesting people to call officials. Thanks to those calls two sons of the dealer has now been arrested and his license has been cancelled though he remains absconding. This village has 100 adivasi families who had applied for ration card and BPL card a year back but no one is listening to them and they are running from pillar to post. Naresh Bunkar from Adivasi Jan Van adhikar Manch in Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh says we went to a village called Kandavani which is a village of Baiga tribals up on the hills. This village is 80kms from district headquarter and 47 kms from block headquarter. 105 Baigas have told that they have got ration cards this year but had to pay Rs 200 for each card. When we confronted the official with this information he has promised to return the money within a week but this is an example how Baigas are getting exploited in the region which needs inspection and correction. My name is Ratiram father’s name Bhukhau caste Gond. My village is Neur in Pandaria block of Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh. Fraudulently someone is taking subsidized ration in my name from last five years by signing the register in English. I complained about it in May but no action has been taken on it yet. Similarly we have also complained about ration cards of Dhan Singh son of Prabhu and Baisakhin Bai widow of Firga. Someone is using their cards. Rajim Ketwas from Pithora in Chhattisgarh is telling us about their experience with Swara. She says we are using Swara from last 2 years and today I would like to share the positive results we have had so far. Many people in our area had not got their NREGA wages for months. After reporting on Swara they got the wages within a week. We also stopped some fraud in the scheme after reporting. In some villages there was corruption in Public Distribution system and people who did not pay bribes were not given subsidized ration for months. After villagers told their story on Swara, newspaper people helped us and people got BPL cards and ration within a week. Forest Rights act was not getting implemented properly in this area and when we spoke about it on Swara we got a call from Chief Secretary of the state the next day and higher forest oficials visited and we got our rights under FRA very soon.
