Baiga adivasis had to give Rs 200 each to get ration cards!

Naresh Bunkar from Adivasi Jan Van adhikar Manch in Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh says we went to a village called Kandavani which is a village of Baiga tribals up on the hills. This village is 80kms from district headquarter and 47 kms from block headquarter. 105 Baigas have told that they have got ration cards this year but had to pay Rs 200 for each card. When we confronted the official with this information he has promised to return the money within a week but this is an example how Baigas are getting exploited in the region which needs inspection and correction.
