Adivasi boy told wrong name, In police custody for a month!
My name is Gujjobai. I am sarpanch of Gumiapal village ( in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh) On Nov 17 a boy from my village Baman Mudiami s/o Kaya was caught by police while going to market. I went to police 5/6 times. They say they will release him but have not released him yet. Police says when they caught Baman he said his name was something else so police suspects that he is a Naxal. Adivasi groups fight and police collects Rs 10,000 in bribe
Sukhiram Baiga from Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh says there was a fight between two groups of Baiga adivasis and one went to police. After that police demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe otherwise threatened to send us to jail. We have borrowed Rs 7,800 at a rate of Rs 10 and have paid to police. Rajastan Caste Panchayat slaps fine of 2 lakhs on Dalits
Pooran Chand Bairwa from Saroli district of Rajastan says that in his village in a recently held caste panchayat has put a fine of Rs 2 lakhs on dalit community. A police case was filed but that has been force withdrawn and he accuses police of helping the upper caste people who have slapped the fine. Village school building work started in 2007, not finished yet!
Sudarshan Baid from Kanker district of Chhattisgarh says Rs 5 lakh was sanctioned for school building in his village in 2007. The work also got started but developed cracks due to bad quality. since then the school is functional on air and they move to a kutcha house in rains where there are many snakes and scorpions. Bank officials create trouble for NREGA payment in Mandla
Rajesh Bairagi is reporting from Chiraidangri village between Mandla and Jabalpur. He says government now gives NREGA payment only from the bank and the State bank officials come late in this rural branch and people need to visit many times to get their money. They also get refused payment when their account has less money. People need this money to run their daily expenses and government should make special arrangement so that they are given their payments in time
