Bank officers work in Air conditioned rooms but they force the laborers to stand outside in summer for whole day. They have not even provided a shade for the laborers. Rita Biswas is calling from Sohanpur panchayat of Dharmajaigarh block of Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh. 54 adivasis got land deeds under Forest Rights act. In 2012 they worked under NREGA for leveling of these lands and are still waiting for their wages. Local officials have also kept their job cards and don’t give it to them even after requests. Janmavati Saket from Rewa Madhya Pradesh says 31 laborers from Kota panchayat had worked under NREGA in 2011 but they were never paid. In 2012 an officer had visited the village after repeated complaints. I am glad to share that after me reporting the matter on CGnet Swara all of them have now got their wages. Sanjay Bharti from Rashtriya Dalit Mahasabha traveling with Bhumi Adhikar Yatra has reached Pithauli village in Sagar district in MP where he meets dalits and adivasis who complain to him that though Govt rate is Rs 146 for NREGA work but they are getting only Rs 100. People have not got wages from 2 years. Wages has been given to people who have not worked. Contractors are being used. On some job cards details of work is there but no details of payment.
