Got rights but still forest dept stops from tilling the land!
Rajim from Chhattisgarh is talking to an adivasi in Teka village who has got land rights for 3 acre of forest land under Forest Rights Act but the officials of forest department are threatening him and are not allowing him to till the land. Over 60% applications rejected under Forest Rights Act
Rajim today is sitting in a village called Teka where they are discussing the issue of Forest Rights Act. She discovers that more than 60% application in FRA has been rejected in these three villages. The head of Forest protection committee who is also sitting in the meeting says people are farming on the land and have also built their houses for which the application has been rejected. Forest officials threaten to throw tribals out of forest land...
Shivrani Goswami from Kanker district of Chhattisgarh says there is a village called Narharpur where there are tribals and non tribals living on forest land from 1996. According to Forest Rights Act they applied for deeds of the land on 2008 but Govt has not responded yet. Now the forest department has dug their land for plantation. Story of an adivasi man who loved his forest...
Santosh Tudu travels to a village in Bokaro district of Jharkhand and meets a person who loves forest. Govind Ram Tudu has been working on a piece of land near his village to develop it as a forest for all his life. Then some anti social elements burnt the forest and sold off the wood. Then Govt got involved and made him president of Forest protection committee. Govt wants to pay him half of the wages which he has refused. Forest officers still tormenting adivasi lives : Activist
Bhan Sahu today is talking to Arun Ji from Bharatpur in Koria district of Chhattisgarh.
