An angry Mr Tejlal from Lakhanpur block in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh is narrating the problems of his village. He says 220 laborers worked in NREGA in 2009 and their payment of Rs 3 lakh is yet to be made. Electric poles were laid 20 years ago but no electricity has come. They have not got any ration card, no job card for NREGA. Village has no handpump and no roads. Old age pension have not been paid from 3 months. Bindeshwari Painkra from Sitapur in Surguja district in Chhattisgarh says earlier I had reported on this forum that NREGA wages were due in Sur village for more than a year. The villagers had complained to all the officers including the collector before but there was no action. But after Swara report some officials visited the village and today the wages are getting distributed. Rahul Soni from Surguja in Chhattisgarh is talking about alleged corruption in NREGA work in village Digma near Ambikapur. He says in one work where Rs 9 lakh have been sanctioned for a bridge construction the bridge is not required and they are getting work done by outside laborers and not giving work to locals. Sant Kumar Jagat from Kota in Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh says the officials are charging Rs 200 each from people who do not have NREGA job cards. When they did not get work in 15 days according to law they applied for compensation on 1st March.
