Suman Devi, an adivasi lady is calling from Kailashpuri village in Jaba block of Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh. She heads a woman self help group called Ahilya Devi Self Help group. They have got work for preparing Mid-day meal but for one school they have not got any money from a year. A local thug demands half the money. Bank and school authorities are making her rounds. Sunil Soren from Dhanbad Jharkhand says though we have Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act in the state which does not allow outsiders to buy land from adivasis. But, he alleges the officials, many of whom are from outside the state do not want the act to be implemented and have bought adivasi lands themselves.
