Children walk 10 kms to go to high school in forest area, Officers not helping...

Students need to walk 10 kilometers to go to high school from my village Medhatal in Bichhia block of Mandla district in Madhya Pradesh says Shivkali Valko a social activist. She says she is specially worried about girl students who face lots of difficulty in walking 10 kms in forest areas. Impact: Forest officers helped stop forest fire 2 days after Swara report, thanks...

Santosh Ahirwhar is visiting Saraimal village in Post Chandawani thana Samnapur in Dindori Madhya Pradesh. When he visited there on 16th April last the forest nearby was burning for more than a week and forest department was not listening to calls from locals. He had recorded a message on CGnet Swara and is happy to share that two days after the report forest officials visited and helped put the fire down. Outsiders are encroaching, making house inside our forest after cutting trees...

Please avoid forest monoculture and bring small industries to give employment...

K.S Varme is calling from Dindori district, Madhya Pradesh and appeals to authorities to introduce railway line to the district for better connectivity. He says Baiga adivasis here want to see how railway looks. He further requests to encourage afforestation and avoid monoculture plantation from the forest department. Adivasis mostly dependent on Forest produce for livelihood, No other jobs...

Mohan Yadav is talking to Sanjay Kumar Bhagat from Cheramangi village in Nukanpal Gram Panchayat in Usur ( Awapalli) block of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh. He says most of people do not have any work in their village. They are mostly dependent on forest for collecting minor forest produce which they sell after collecting. When it is not season they live at home and there is no employment guarantee work taking place. He also says people are not educated in this area and they do not know much about their rights.
