Zila Panchayat members of Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh have alleged that in two blocks Chhindgarh and Sukma of the district 35,000 workers have not got any MGNREGA wages in last 6 months and the amount of due is more than Rs 2.5 crore. The members said this is a Naxal affected area and workers take a lot of risk for working but when they went to meet CO to complain about it, he refused to meet them. Yashwant Ramteke is talking to two entrepreneur adivasi boys who had applied for bank loans after being cleared from Khadi & Gramodyog dept and Pradhanmatri Rozgar Yojna. Yashwant says there are many such cases in this adivasi district and government should be more careful in stopping these adivasi youth in getting diverted in other direction by engaging them in these employment schemes. “Police and SPOs have attacked villages near Chintalnar in Dantewada district and have burnt many houses” says Himanshu Kumar quoting his colleagues on ground.
