Police beating protesters against Dantewada power project
Yashwant Ramteke from Dantewada says in nearby Barsur a private company has quietly started work on a 50 MW hydel power project on river Indravati and villagers are not happy about it. Dantewada: Need to take Mitanin program to left out villages
Kopa Kunjam from Dantewada in Chhattisgarh says he went to a Mitanin training program yesterday and found the Mitanins full of energy. 400 Mitanins have been selected for Bhairamgarh block there and half of them have already been trained and are doing good work in the villages. Dantewada: Many school, anganwadis working only on paper
Kopa Kunjam from Dantewada says that in Bhairamgarh block, of the district all the schools and anganwadis on the villages on the other side of the river are only working on paper. The children are suffering from Malnutrition in the absence of anganwadis. Ths situation is similar in Usur and Bhopalpatnam block too.The concerned officers are requested to look into the matter and instruct for reopening of schools. Interview with a Mahua liquor seller in Dantewada...
Mangal Kunjam from Dantewada in Chhattisgarh is talking to a Gondi speaking local Mahua liquor seller. Samruram says he sells one bottle of Mahua liquor for Rs 30 and earns around Rs 800 in a month. He says though his village is just 10 kms from the iron ore mines of National Mineral Development corporation but only one person has got a job from his village so far and he is forced to sell Mahua for his livelihood. No rains yet, farmers are a worried lot in Dantewada
Mangal Kunjam today is talking to a fellow adivasi farmer in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. The farmer Jogaram Kunjam tells him that there is no rain this year in the area yet and the seeds are going waste.
