Follow up: Forest dept refuses but adivasis tell horror story of attack on them
Deepak says he heard the message from Ramkailash Kol on Swara y’day that forest dept has demolished 45 houses of adivasis. He called up the ranger on number given by Mr Kol but the ranger flatly refused about any such incident. Then with help from Mr Kol he spoke to a victim Ramkaran Kol who narrated the horror story of drunken forest officials who broke houses, burnt them and beat adivasis up. Forest officials in Rewa MP broke adivasi houses, destroyed crop and food...
Ramkailash Kol from Rewa MP is telling us that today forest dept officials with police force attacked Lakhnadunari village ( Panchayat Jatri Po Bonda Tah Jaba) and broke 45 houses of Kol adivasis. They also burnt down a house and have destroyed crop and food. The adivasis have proof of their residence from 1980. Baiga Adivasis fighting to save their land, Forest dept calling them Naxalites
Dhruv bhai from Mandla in MP is helping us listen to Sujit Baiga from Mathna area where Baiga adivasis are fighting to save their traditional forest land which they are using from generations. He says forest dept is harassing them with any excuse and have put 6 of them in jail. They are threatening to put all of them to jail by declaring them naxalite. Forest ranger put pistol on farming adivasi women and men and arrested us...
Priyanka Kumre is talking to an adivasi Khujal Singh Irpache from Jhamar Raiyat village in Lakhnadon block of Seoni district who is narrating their experience with forest dept. He says the ranger came when we were farming and put his pistol on women and men and arrested 17 of us. They also took away our cattle. Govt taking away traditional common land and forest, says Adivasi woman
