Mahan: People tie Rakhi to Mahua tree, vow to continue fight to save forest...
Rambhanvar Yadav is calling from Amelia village thana Mada in district Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh. He is also associated with Mahan Sangharsh Samiti who are fighting to save Mahan forest from proposed coal mining. He is informing us that today on the occassion of Rakshabandhan more than 8000 people tied Rakhi to Mahua trees in Mahan forest and vowed to continue their fight to save the forest. Bhanu Patel in Dharmajaigarh of district Raigarh in Chhattisgarh is talking to Pahadi Korwa primitive triabls from Chhui Khadan village in Panchayat Krinda. They tell her there is no road for 100 families of them. If fallen ill, they have no other way to but to die. They neither have electricity nor solar panels. Panchayat okays connecting road to adivasi village, Forest dept not allowing...
Bhanu Patel is talking to Gudduram Majhi from Khalbora village in Baridih panchayat of Dharmajaigarh block in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. He says their village has more than 300 people mostly from Birhor tribe. They have no connecting road. Impact: Officer came home to deliver Tendu wages to tribals due from year...
Bhanu Patel is calling from Dharampur village in Dharmajaigarh block of Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh to say that some time back she had reported on Swara that Pando primitive tribals from this village were running pillar to post to get their due Tendu leaf collection wages. Flood last year destroyed waterbodies, Please help Pando primitive tribals...
Bhanu Patel is visiting Dharampur forest village in Dharmajaigarh block of Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh where people from primitive Pando tribes live. A flood last year destroyed their water tank, wells and also a bridge and people are suffering. They have only one well for around 35 families and walk long distance for fetching water.
