Forest dept uprooted 5000 fruit bearing saplings planted by Adivasis in MP...
Rajendra Gadwal from Betul district in MP is telling us that today in Sarni forest range adivasis were trying to plant fruit bearing saplings but forest dept uprooted 5000 of them by force. 6 adivasis were injured in beatings by forest dept and adivasi were not allowed to move for 4 hours and were released only in evening. Insurgents allegedly stopping community forest right to help mining companies
Sunil Verma from Ranchi is telling us that today in village Jala gram panchayat Semegada of Balumath block in Latehar district of Jharkhand when people tried to pass a resolution for community right on forest land under Forest Rights Act they were stopped by an armed group Tritiya Prastuti Committee. Villagers planting fruit bearing trees in forest, Company wants to mine there...
Litu Minj from Sundargarh district in Odisha is talking to villagers who are planting fruit bearing trees in forest near Chaplakundi village who tell that the forest is in bad shape due to mining and they are suffering. Villagers tell him that they have applied under Forest Rights Act for community right on forest. A RTI has revealed that the company does not have forest clearance for mining as they are claiming. Elephants broke more houses last night, Forest dept says cant help in night
Sajal Kumar from Dharmajaigarh block in Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh is talking to a man whose house was broken last night by elephants. He says they called forest department who never visits at night. He says elephants have broken 20 houses like this and have destroyed crop of millions.
