20 Baiga adivasis today walked 35 kms through hills to Kota in Bilaspur district in Chhattisgrh to ask about wages for NREGA work they did 6 months ago with some volunteers from Navrachna Samaj Sevi Sanstha. First Program Officer Reena Yadav told them money has been sent to post office. When they demanded this in writing she refused. Suresh Oraon from Chhatra district of Jharkhand is reporting about land of adivasis being taken away by fraudulent way. He alleges that officials are involved with middlemen in this illegal land grabbing. They have complained to the district administration but there is no enquiry on the subject.
