जहाँ जंगल हैं, वहाँ मंगल है-
मीठे कंदमूल मीठे फल हैं-
बहता हैं पावन अनीर – बहता हैं शीतल सलिल-
स्वस्थ रहते हैं निवासी-
प्रसन्न रहते हैं वनवासी-
गृह पट्टे का आधार मिले-
वन पर पूरा अधिकार मिले – यहीं दुआएं प्रतिपल हैं-

Virendra Paraste is calling from Sakka Barela village of Dindori district in Madhya Pradesh and saying that the main road connecting this village is in pathetic condition. People have to walk barefoot on this road and the situation gets worse when it rains in monsoon. पहुँच गए हैं छोटे छोटे बच्चे-बच्चियाँ,
खाली-खाली हाथ, खाली-खाली पाँव

कि हो भोर, बढे गोड, भटक रही, भटक रही
नदी के पानी में

इनकी नन्हीं-नन्हीं अँगुलियाँ, थर-थर काँप रहीं हैं
मुँह से निकाल रही है भाप, सुडसुडा रही है नाक
हाथ-पाँव कनकनी से, ठिठुर-सिकुड गए हैं
ऐसी ठंड से बचने को, बस लुंगी-लुगा की बाँधे हैं गाती
पर देखिए, आकर यहाँ, कि सूर्य-उगने का अभी बेर बाकी
और यहाँ पहुँच इनकी आँखों में, उग आई है लालिमा
फूटने को हैं किरणें

अब जब हो गए है कुछ अँजोर, पानी में उतर चह-चह चहकने लगे हैं
और भर गए हैं मन-पोर पोर ऐसे हुलास से,
कि वे खो बैठे हैं क्षण-भर को अपना धैर्य
कमर-भर पानी में धुस गए हैं नंग-धडंग
और एक हाथ से पकडे फांड में, छान-छान एक हाथ से
रख रहे हैं, और गुदगुदी से, खिल खिलखिला रहे हैं
और जिस फूल को, कभी किसी ने देखा नहीं
न ही सुना कभी, उसकी तरह, महक रहे हैं

कि आ ! हा !आज जो इनके घरों से उठेगा धुआँ
होगा वह तो, वैसा ही, जैसा हर दिन, पर आज जो मिलेगा कौर-कौर स्वाद !
रोआँ-रोआँ गाएगा प्रीत-गीत रे वसंत ! अगर बबुओं ने न छिना, बच निकले
छुप-छुपाए, चहकते -महकते ये बच्चे, गाँव बाहर अपने टोला में

ओह ! कहीं डूबें न !सिहर-सिहर जा रहा देख !
पर वो तो छान रहे हैं, कभी कमर, कभी छाती-भर पानी में
चले जा रहे उन्हें छानते दूर तलक, ठंड में जो उतरा जाती हैं
झिंगवा, झिंगवा रे भाई !
