Subhash Gayali from Jharkhand is telling us about a regional meet about mining and land in Dhanad district. The main issue was the practices of BCCL which had the rights to mine upto 2005, however they continued and in 2006, 50 mine labourers lost their lives. Where the mining is finished also, the land has not been leveled for farming, nor is their any return of the land to the people, who want the authorities to take note and solve the long pending issues. Ram Kailash Kol says Kol Adivasis in District Rewa in Madhya Pradesh were allotted land for farming in 2001-02 however the possession has not been handed over to them yet. In spite of follow up, writing to the Chief Minister through the Tehsil office, the Kols are unable to find relief and make use of the government schemes for them. Subhash Gayali from Dhanbad district of Jharkhand says a company called ONGC is trying to build a factory in a village and is trying to buy lands from villagers by force. The company is not offering any jobs to local youth or facilities to farmers. Villagers have done a dharna and the company has now assured to respond to the demands by one week. Bhan Sahu is talking to Jagdish Ji from Rewa in Madhya Pradesh who tells her that Govt had promised land to Dalits and Adivasis in year 2001-02 but they are yet to get possession of those lands after repeated follow up. Govt says they can give support for houses once people have land so they are not able to get that support too.
