Forest Right: Adivasis applied for land in 2009, No reply yet
Jagdish Ji in Rewa Madhya Pradesh is visiting a forest village called Gadhoi where 900 Kol adivasis are living from 1973. These 73 families have applied for land deeds under forest rigths act in 2009 but there is no movement yet on their application. The people have also met collector but he has also not given assurance. Some people from this village had also been to jail for land issues in the past. Farmers in Indore, MP do not want to give land at any cost
Bhan Sahu traveling with Jan Satyagraha Samvad Yatra of Ekta Parishad has now reached Indore district of Madhya Pradesh where she meets agitated farmers who are protesting take over of their land by the government. She speaks to Narendra Singh Solanki of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti who is telling her about their struggle. He says we have gone to all the administrative officials and political leaders but no one helps. Farmers do not want to give land at any cost but government is still taking away land. Gave land for coal mining, now no electricity for months...
Naim Ji from Dhanbad is visiting a village where he meets Kalyani Roy who is telling him that there is no electricity in their village from last 2 months and authorities just do not listen. She says they lost their land to coal mining but the company does not care for them neither does Jharkhand government. She says very few people have got BPL cards in her village and people are getting almost no help from any development schemes but the biggest problem at the moment in summer is electricity. Adivasis living on forest land from 1975 have not got deeds!
Jagdish Ji from Rewa in Madhya Pradesh is visiting a forest village called Darbhai. He says 300 adivasis live in this village from 1975. These 75 adivasi families filled their claim form under Forest Rights Act in 2008 but have not got their deeds. MP govt had given date till yesterday for filling fresh claim forms but these people were not aware of this new date. Arrested adivasis demanding better land rates released
Savita Rath from Raigarh in Chhattisgarh is telling us that she had told us yesterday about arrest of 23 adivasi farmers who were demanding government approved rates for the land a power company has taken from them. She says today there was a 3 party meeting where more than 200 villagers from nearby villages took part and a decision was taken to release the arrested farmers till 15th June.
