The laborer says he has worked for 100 days in NREGA with his wife but they have got paid for 27 days after 7 months. The laborer says the officers keep telling me that the money has been deposited in bank and we will get the money soon but that soon never happens. An activist of Tarun Sangh in Kota block of Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh says NREGA payments are delayed upto six months in the district and when they go to officials they question why they are asking these questions. And when they take the people who have worked on NREGA along they say it is government work and delay is inevitable. Sanjay Sharma from Ambikapur in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh says when Pitbasu Bhoi who got his NREGA payment a year after (and after the death of his ) went to apply for compensation for late paymnet according to NREGA laws his application was not accepted by authorities. He says before people from the same village Pampapur applied for compensation when they did not get work 15 days after the application as per NREGA law, but that application was also not accepted.
