A wonderful tribal medicine- Seetaphal (Custard Apple)
Seetaphal (Custard Apple) can be seen wildly growing in forests, gardens and near road sides. The botanical name of this plant is Annona squamosa. Fruits of Seetaphal act as tonic and it has quality of expelling phlegm. Tribals in Patalkot shade dry the fruits of this plant and prepare powder out of it. The powder is added in wheat flour and given to the kids, it said to be effective in expelling the worms from stomach. Tribals in Dangs crush seeds of Seetaphal and add the powder in coconut oil and apply over the head. According to them, it kills the lice. Tribal women apply it for cleaning and washing their hair. Juice of Seetaphal leaf, if applied over wound, heals it fast. In case of epilepsy/mirgi , if leaves are rub near the nostrils, it minimizes the effect. In case of dysentery, the leaf juice should be given to the patient. If we believe the feedback of Patalkot tribals, the leaf juice is very effective in joint pains. Around 500g leaves should be boiled in 2L water and then this mixture should be added in 20L water. Take shower with this water, it helps in relieving the joint pains. If chewed directly, leaves are said to be effective in diabetes. Tribals also prepare pesticides from the leaves of this plant. In next recording Dr Acharya will share information about Bael tree.
