Meeting to discuss migration of girls from tribal areas to cities

A meeting has been called in Jharkhand to discuss the mass migration of girls to work as maid servants in big cities and in brick kilns from tribal areas. Vasavi Kiro, a member of State Women’s commission said that thousands of girls from states like Jharkhand go to big cities to work through placement agencies and there are many examples of their mental and physical torture and state should make adequate provisions for their safeguard. She also said that job opportunities should be created in the state so that these girls need not go outside
