No notice for public hearing, police beats up who reached

Litu Minj from Sundargarh district in Odisha says on 16th March a public hearing was scheduled in Khatpur bahal gram panchayat regarding the planned expansion of Limestone and Dolomite Mines for cement factories. Some people opposed the expansion and the police resorted to Lathi charge. No one from the board of Pollution Control reached the venue.Those who are opposing the expansion say that the mines cause pollution in their area, and they do not want to give away their land, and some of them can be heard in the recording. According to rules, 30 days of advance notice should be given in 2 prominent news papers by the Pollution Control Board.
