Dilip Jaiswal is telling us about harmful effect of Sugar cane farming in Rajpur block of Balrampur district in Chhattisgarh in last few years. 10 years ago water was available at 40-50 feet but for sugar cane farmers dug many tube wells and now water table has gone down to 150-200 feet. Farmers are trying to shift to vegetable now but heavy chemical used for sugar cane has badly affected the soil and vegetable farming is not good though Govt is also trying to help the farmer.
